In
addition Lois has been a licensed teacher in
Portland, Oregon, for more then 20 years, teaching;
first grade over 14 years, pre-school for three
years and performing as a substitute teacher, K-12th
grades.
I found
myself in Portland when I got the biggest shock of
my life...twin boys,
Lorin and Sean...arriving eight minutes apart. I was
initiated into parenthood pretty fast and I had to
get my act together. Double trouble! Yes, I had tons
of educational material to fall back on, but the
truth is, none of it mattered and none of it
helped.
I wished I had a manual to go
along with my twin sons.
I didn't sleep for three years but being their mommy
was bliss. Then eight years later Rebecca came along
and she was icing on the cake! We've had many joys
as well as challenges through the years and I can
honestly say I've had extensive on the job training
in the Mom Department.
Being
a teacher for over 20 years,
I have worked with kids and families with special
needs, as well as parents just struggling to do the
right thing. I have worked with every parenting
situation, including, but not limited to: parents
that are married, single, divorced, adoptive,
foster, gay, etc. No matter what our family
structure is, the role of the parent can be a very
perplexing one because every child is different and
requires special handling.
As
a teacher I supported and worked with all kinds of
parents
to solve problems. Some problems were very
complicated, but I learned with proper assessment,
patience and trust, that every problem does
have a solution.
From my own experiences and
in working with many other parents,
I came to see a clear mismatch between what is
expected of us as parents, compared to our lack of
preparedness and parenting abilities. So, as
parents, having the best intentions and lots of
love, we find ourselves groping in the dark for
answers.
I believe we all have the answers within us,
this was my motivation to become first, a Certified
Life Coach, but ultimately, a Certified Proactive
Parent Coach / Consultant.
My Proactive Parent Coaching
is a practical, goal oriented program
that works quickly for
results. That' why I love what I do, because I am
committed to helping people be the best parents they
can be!
If it is true that our kids learn by what we do,
than it behooves us to get our acts together
quickly...I know I had to. The eyes of our children
are upon us, so let's Power-UP and get Proactive! |
